Weekly Astrology Forecast--Three Retrogrades;Two Shifts
Because they're important, I'll begin this forecast with a discussion of the three retrogrades taking place this week.
The week begins with Saturn’s retrograde in Aquarius on Monday at 12:09 EDT. We have had a taste of Saturn’s future transit of Aquarius (December 16, 2020 to March 7, 2023). For some it was the obvious obstacle (Saturn) to social gathering (Aquarius) and fear (from) of an airborne (Aquarius) pathogen, while others have expanded on that to include the concept of energy in general, maybe learning about or utilizing energy healing techniques while ‘sheltering in place.’ When Saturn retrogrades, these experiences are reviewed. Saturn will re-enter Capricorn (July 2nd) and make close contact with both Pluto and Jupiter, exploring events from January’s conjunction through September 25th when in direct motion it re-empowers teachings on the issues of our cultural consensus agreements, government, and authorities in general. Saturn is the Lord of Karma, rewarding those for good efforts and dishing up an experience or two for those who have deeper lessons to learn.
Those with Capricorn Sun and Ascendant will feel the downshift of energy as their planetary ruler moves backwards and the energy internalizes. We all feel this for issues of the house Capricorn rules in the birth chart. As with all retrogrades, things are delayed and someone (something) returns.
Venus in Gemini retrogrades at 21 degrees, on Tuesday for Pacific Time and Wednesday for all parts East. It is exact at 2:45 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, the 13th. This retrograde presents a superficial or mundane level as well as a deeper psychological journey.
Venus rules love, attraction, value and worth, personal money and possessions, relationship, balance, harmony, choice, justice, beauty, the throat, the kidneys, the arts, the senses, the earth, nature, flowers and foods. As Venus retrogrades, all these areas may need review and re-evaluation and some may slow-down, depending on the houses in the birth chart ruled by Taurus and Libra. Those with Taurus or Libra as Sun sign or Ascendant also feel this energy downshift in general.
But in this process, Venus passes across the Sun and so she disappears as she enters the rays, crosses the face, and comes back into the rays. In doing so, she moves from being an evening star (seen after sunset) to a morning star, seen before sunrise. Her apparent disappearance creates the idea of Venus’ ‘descent into the underworld’ which forms the meaning of this Heroine’s Journey. For us this means going deep within the underground of our psyche to locate, restore and retrieve parts of ourselves, specifically in how we act in relationships and deal with love in general.
When the Heroine’s Journey takes place in Gemini we are looking specifically at our thoughts and communications about love and how we speak to or communicate with those we love. We discover the labels we have given to a person or situation and may find a way to rename and revalue them. Misunderstandings may also be revealed, and a new story emerges. An old love returns, even if only in mind, and we get more information about our interactions.
Greater love in this realm of thought and communication is the sought-for prize. If we do well, we return from the journey with a lighter heart and effortless connections to love and beauty. And we have plenty of time to explore and uncover because Venus is retrograde until June 25th, and regains 21 degrees of Gemini on July 29th, remaining in this sign until she enters Cancer on August 7th. The house(s) where Venus has this retrograde signify the area where the quest is most noticeable.
On Thursday, Jupiter retrogrades in Capricorn at 10:32 a.m. EDT. Expansion slows down in the mundane realms and in our search for higher consciousness as we internalize this energy. Sagittarius Sun and Sagittarius Ascendants will feel the downshift in general. We will all feel the slowdown in the house ruled by Sagittarius in the birth chart.
Jupiter is also the planet of benefits, gifts, winning, humor, long journeys, beliefs, perspectives, philosophy, rituals, religion, natural law, foreign cultures, in-laws, and higher education. There can be obstacles in these areas, or a need to review our experience. In Capricorn there can be effects on public life, career, status, reputation, achievement and how the consensus mind or our own current religious or secular philosophy relates to our actual beliefs.
Jupiter is retrograde until September 12th. In direct motion, it enters Aquarius on December 19th, making the major conjunction to Saturn in this sign on the Winter Solstice, December 21st.
As we move on to the aspects for this week, keep in mind that aspects to Pluto (already retrograde) and now Saturn, Venus and Jupiter will be to retrograde planets, which means their meaning can undergo a shift. And we are now well into the ‘retrograde cycle of the year’ and all outer planets will be retrograde between August 15th and September 12th. This is the period where we collect the fruits of our labors during forward motion and the waxing Solar Cycle.
DAILY ASPECTS Monday through Thursday
Monday—Mercury enters Gemini at 5:58 p.m. Eastern. The planet of the mind is finally in its own domain. We expect more focus on studies, communications, short journeys and interactions with family and neighbors and those in everyday or local environments.
Capricorn Moon spends the day moving toward a sextile to Neptune in Pisces, exact at 6:05 p.m. Even if it’s a workday, the energy is somewhat softened, and we allow for helpful creative input.
Capricorn Moon’s trine to Sun in Taurus brings the ‘harmony of the lights’ in earth signs. Our feelings and self-expression about mundane matters are flowing well together and that creates good energy for outer relationships, too. This aspect completes at 8:24 p.m., promising a nice dinnertime. Feelings intensify as Moon joins Pluto until 2:14 a.m. on Tuesday. There can be an obsessive review of achievements and changes, especially in public life or important life structures. Moon’s conjunction to Jupiter until 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday should bring serious pondering to a more optimistic conclusion.
Tuesday—Void of course Capricorn Moon until Moon enters Aquarius at 11:39 a.m. Moon trines Mercury in Gemini until 3:07 p.m. and this is a time to network, advertise, make proposals and communicate. The conjunction of Moon to retrograde Saturn in Aquarius can indicate a re-connection or the encountering of obstacles in plans. Mercury trines Saturn until 4:14 p.m. so things can work out if communication is established. Aquarius Moon moves on to square Uranus in Taurus, exact Wednesday at 1: 52 a.m. There are upsets and changes in store that can affect groups, friendships, plans, finance and more.
Wednesday--Mars enters Pisces at 12:17 a.m. Eastern. This fiery planet is not at its best in the ocean waters of Pisces. Energy is low and our anger and passion can turn into steam that may build up to a point of expression at some surprising time. Pisces Mars fights for the oppressed and the underdog. There can also be an emphasis on water and creatures that live within this realm. In the body, pain, burning, cuts or other inflammations can affect the feet; anger can weaken the immune system.
Gemini Venus retrogrades at 2:45 a.m. and Aquarius Moon moves to trine Venus all day, exact on Thursday at 5:20 a.m. Communications and conversations are pleasant, friendly, enjoyable but don’t count on promises made, even with the best of intentions, due to the long retrograde where Venus will quite likely change her mind.
Thursday—Moon in Aquarius squares Sun in Taurus at 10:03 a.m., bringing conflict between the instinct for freedom and possessive attitudes. This is not the time to discuss financial plans or argue over values. This aspect also brings us to the 4th lunar quarter phase and it’s time to reevaluate the past three weeks and look for things to change for a better result.
Jupiter retrogrades at 10:32 a.m. Moon is void in Aquarius until it enters Pisces at 9:24 p.m. We feel free and engage in electronic communications during the VOC Moon. When it enters Pisces, it moves to join Mars, so feelings are intensified along with the idea of victimhood or martyrdom. It’s also a time when ‘sore feet’ can cause a sour disposition. This aspect completes at 12:06 a.m. on Friday.
Taurus Sun trines Pluto on Thursday, making it possible to get help from authorities to review public life and career matters. This aspect completes on Friday at 2:49 a.m.
Friday—Pisces Moon sextiles Uranus in Taurus until 12:41 p.m. EDT. Intuition is strong about new ways to deal with mundane matters. A square to Mercury in Gemini until 12:57 p.m. brings logical analysis that bursts the bubble. Pisces Moon now heads toward a conjunction to Neptune that completes on Saturday. Do not let negativity bring you underwater. Do pursue creative and spiritual practices. Surround yourself with light and ask for helpful messages to arrive in dreams, and that you will remember them.
Saturday—Moon in Pisces completes the conjunction to Neptune at 2:34 p.m. Weather my interfere with outdoor plans or those plans take you onto or around water. But there is deception and illusion possible now and contact with something you should avoid. Time is best spent in creative, musical, spiritual pursuits.
When Pisces Moon squares Venus in Gemini until 4:35 p.m. there is little mutual understanding and a potential for over idealization. It’s more like ‘fantasy’ than ‘love’ at first sight. We return to a more stable mode while Pisces Moon sextiles Pluto in Capricorn until 11:15 p.m. and then sextiles Sun in Taurus until 3:13 a.m. on Sunday. We might even find ourselves laughing about it all, even in dreams as Pisces Moon sextiles Jupiter in Capricorn until 3:59 a.m. Sunday.
Sunday—With Moon void in Pisces, many will not want to get up this morning. Things get going when Moon enters fiery Aries at 9:36 a.m. Eastern. Sun in Taurus trines Jupiter in Capricorn until 12:40 p.m. and brings a fine lunch experience and general feelings of good will and generosity. Aries Moon is moving to sextile Saturn in Aquarius, exact at 1:29 p.m. We want to engage in activity with others, but this might not go the way we imagine. Aries Moon moves on to sextile Mercury in Gemini that will complete on Monday. These helpful conversations have more energy and may bear fruit at some point.
